Teaching students about plagiarism and how to avoid plagiarizing is a key concept for students to understand (especially if they plan to attend college).
Here are a few plagiarism detection tools to help students (or teachers) analyze their writing.
No Plag lets you paste your writing into a text box for a quick check for plagiarism for free.
Plagium checks and detects plagiarism for free.
The Plagiarism Checker is a free plagiarism detector. It will find plagiarized text in homework or other essays or reports. There is a premium version that offers more tools, but the free version still gives students an idea of whether they are plagiarizing.
Plagiarism.org offers tips and tools for preventing plagiarism. This site shares information on how to cite, citation styles, how to paraphrase, and how to quote material. It also explains a bibliography and an annotated bibliography. It has a plagiarism checker, but it is a paid site, so I would use one of the ones above.
